Academia del Pueblo was full of energy and excitement during our 2nd Annual Camp Read-A-Lot — a special day designed to celebrate and promote the love of reading in a fun and unforgettable way!

“The campus was buzzing with excitement, and our students had an absolute blast from start to finish.” – Frank Lomeli, Principal

Held right here on campus, this year’s event was bigger and better than ever. Students gathered for a full morning of laughter, learning, and school pride, kicked off with an epic Reading Pep Rally that featured two surprise celebrity guests: the Phoenix Suns Gorilla and ASU’s Sparky! Their appearance brought wild cheers and big smiles as they danced, hyped up the crowd, and reminded our students that reading is powerful — and fun!

✨ Event Highlights Included: Student Dancers: Our top readers showed off their moves in front of a packed gym!

  • Shootout Challenge: A lively one-on-one competition between Dondra Campbell and the Suns Gorilla had the whole crowd cheering.

  • Student Government Leaders: Behind the scenes, our student leaders helped make sure every activity ran smoothly.

  • Staff Support: Teachers and team members all pitched in to make the day a success — from organizing stations to cheering on students.

A very special shoutout goes to Ms. Flores and Ms. York, who led the planning of this event with creativity, dedication, and heart. Your efforts made Camp Read-A-Lot a day to remember for our entire ADP community!

We’re proud to keep this joyful tradition going and can’t wait to make Camp Read-A-Lot 2026 even more magical. Until then, let’s keep turning pages, telling stories, and growing as readers together.
