S.T.E.A.M. is a new movement in American Education to help teachers and their students understand how the academic disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics impact their world and prepare them for the workforce of tomorrow. STEAM is multidiscipline based, incorporating the integration of other disciplinary knowledge into a new whole. Technology helps us communicate; Math is the language; Art is expressive; Science and Engineering are the processes for thinking; all this leads to Innovation. The STEAM educational programs currently offered at ADP are as follows:
Do you like to draw and want to learn new techniques to get even better? Do you just want to learn how to draw for the first time? If so, this class is perfect for you. The instructors are professional artists through the Phoenix Center for the Arts. Only the first 20 students will be accepted. So, hurry and sign up today! Classes begin on Monday, January 26th.
The Mad Science program sparks imaginative learning in students after school. ADP partners with Mad Science Company, a national company with a vast library of unique after school science programs. They provide spectacular demonstrations, hands-on activities, and real world discussions that make learning about science fun for kids. Their interactive, one-hour after school programs are themed around particular areas of science and include such topics as rocketry, magnets, polymers, and even the science of toys. In each class, students are encouraged to give science a try and build their very own model rockets, periscopes, science putty and more. Students even get to take home their science experiments to show mom and dad. The Mad Science after school program is aligned to S.T.E.M. objectives and meets national, state and provincial extracurricular activities standards. This program offers children a chance to see just how fun science can be. http://www.madscience.org/
